You’ll probably eat almost exclusively outdoors during your vacation in Banff National Park. Banff and Lake Louise are the right place for this because the range of restaurants is extensive. Below you’ll find a handy overview, arranged by type of restaurant and type of food.
In the overview, you will find almost all the restaurants Banff and Lake Louise have to offer. I have included a total of 142. The most famous cuisines are widely represented, but more exclusive food like Peruvian and Ramen can also be found.
Of course, this page about food in Banff could also have been an overview of Banff’s “best” restaurants. But that is an opinion, and it’s subjective. Who knows, maybe you like something completely different than I do, and I’m certainly not a culinary expert, unfortunately. Therefore, you’ll find an overview below of Banff’s many dining options, all conveniently arranged by type of cuisine.
I used the average on Google for the ratings. If a restaurant received at least one hundred reviews, you will find the average rating in the overview. This way, you get a much better idea of the food and the restaurant’s quality (or coffee shop, bistro or pub) than when you base your choice on my opinion. Restaurants with fewer than one hundred reviews are displayed with a dash (“-“).
Besides the type of cuisine and the average rating in Google, you will also find the price indication (from cheap to expensive), the address, and whether the restaurant has takeaway and/or delivery. This way, you can make a good choice at a glance, based on your preferences.
Prices in Banff and Lake Louise Restaurants
The prices of most restaurants in Banff and Lake Louise are not too bad. There are a fair number of budget options. Sure, you can also eat out fancy if you want. But the average price level of restaurants in Banff is not significantly different from restaurants in Alberta’s bigger cities.
There are also plenty of fast-food restaurants. The franchises located in Banff are part of well-known US chains. You will find the names under “Fast Food” in the overview. Lake Louise doesn’t have any, strangely enough.
It probably doesn’t surprise you that fast food restaurants are most represented. But beyond that: It seems like many residents of Banff town have Italian roots because you can get pizza in many places. You will find no less than seven pizza restaurants and takeaway places in the overview.
Because there are so many, I have included them as a separate category in the overview. In addition, you will find another five Italian restaurants under their separate header. It’s also striking that you will find “only” three sushi restaurants and two Japanese restaurants in Banff and one sushi restaurant in Lake Louise. With the considerable influx of Japanese tourists, you would expect these kinds of restaurant to be more prevalent.
