Rocky Mountain National Park Announces 2025 Timed Entry Details

Rocky Mountain National Park has revealed its reservation system for 2025, with bookings opening on May 23. The system aims to manage visitor numbers while protecting park resources.
The park will continue using two types of permits similar to 2024. The first permit covers the Bear Lake Road Corridor and the entire park, requiring reservations between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. for entry to this popular area.
Two-hour entry windows
The second permit applies to the rest of the park, excluding Bear Lake Road, reports the Coloradoan. Visitors need this permit between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with two-hour entry windows available. There’s no fixed departure time for either permit type.
Reservations cost just a $2 processing fee through Recreation.gov. The system was established through the Day Use Visitor Access Plan, finalized in May 2024, to maintain safety and visitor experience.
Planning ahead
Park officials emphasize the importance of planning ahead and being prepared for rapid weather changes in the Rocky Mountains. Visitors should assess their fitness levels and be ready to turn back if conditions deteriorate.
Rocky Mountain National Park remains one of America’s most visited parks, receiving 4.3 million visitors in 2022. Even with the timed entry system, the park continues to see some of its highest visitation numbers in history, making advance planning essential for a successful visit.
