Glacier Park Snow Removal Reaches Big Bend, Just Miles from Logan Pass

Glacier National Park’s snow removal teams have made significant progress on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, reaching Big Bend about 3 miles from Logan Pass.

Crews have cleared down to pavement at Grouse Point, working through snow depths ranging from 4 to 8 feet, according to Park spokesperson Gina Icenoggle.

Spring conditions
For visitors hoping to enjoy the spring conditions, writes Hungry Horse News, hikers and bikers can currently access the road as far as the Loop on the west side and the Grizzly pullout (about 6 miles up from Rising Sun) on the east side.

Weather forecasts predict good conditions early Saturday, though rain may arrive later that day and continue through Sunday. Temperatures should reach the 50s at lower elevations.

Popular routes
While Glacier’s secondary roads have been plowed, only a few are currently open to vehicles. These include the Camas, Grist, Fish Creek, and Quarter Circle Bridge roads. Other popular routes like Two Medicine, Many Glacier, and Chief Mountain Road remain closed to motor vehicles but are accessible to hikers and bikers.

This year’s plowing progress mirrors similar timing from a decade ago, when crews reached the same point around the same date in 2015.
