Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in Colorado Stops Taking Cash Payments

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park has decided to go fully digital for all payments. Visitors can no longer use cash for entrance fees or camping costs.
The park now wants people to pay online before they arrive. According to the park, the most convenient method is to buy passes ahead of time and scan a QR code when entering.
Pre-pay
“The National Park Service hopes that more visitors will pre-pay before coming to the extremely popular national park”, writes KDVR.
This change reflects a wider trend in Colorado, where cash use is declining. Only 16 percent of in-person purchases in the state are now made with cash.
Massive natural areas
Black Canyon of the Gunnison is one of Colorado’s stunning national parks, which are so vast that they’re actually larger than some small countries. Many visitors spend multiple days exploring these massive natural areas.
While digital payments become more common, some experts still believe cash will always maintain its value – even if we’re using it less frequently.
